Hans Juergen Paetsch

Hans passed away after a brief illness. He is survived by his Aunt, Christa Murillo; his three children; Buffy, Erich and Isaac Paetsch; and four grandchildren Anissia, Sebastian, Elliott, and a soon to be born grandson.
Hans was born in Lubeck Germany to Gertrude Margarete Paetsch and spent his early childhood there until he immigrated to the United States in May of 1957 with his grandmother, Margarete Charlotte Paetsch. Upon arriving in Salt Lake City, Hans jointed his uncle Ernest and others in the woodwork trade at the Paetsch Cabinet Shop. Hans graduated from East High School in June 1966 and shortly after married Donna K. Schmidtke. Hans also joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served a two year term at Fort Lewis, Washington before returning to Salt Lake.
Hans maintained his passion in woodworking throughout his life and was a Teamster while employed at Consolidated Freightways. He proudly became a citizen of the United States in June of 2011.
A viewing will be held on Friday March 4th between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. followed by a short viewing at 2:00 p.m. and a graveside service on Saturday March 5th at 3:00 p.m. All services take place at Redwood Memorial Park Cemetery, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. Following services a Celebration of Life will occur at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 West 3100 So. between 4:30 and 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the V.A.
