Relief Society There will be NO West Valley 4th Ward Relief Society activity held on the second Tuesday this month. Plan on coming to the Stake activity on Saturday, March 20. Read more below and look for posters/fliers to come.
There will also be NO West Valley 4th Ward Relief Society temple trip on the third Tuesday. Thursday, March 11th will be our Ward Conference temple day at the Jordan River Temple with our stake leaders. Meet for the 6:40 pm session. Ward Conference meetings will be held on the following Saturday and Sunday, March 13-14.
The West Valley Stake Relief Society Presidency will hostess our annual Relief Society birthday celebration this year on Saturday, March 20 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the West Valley Stake Center on Peachwood Drive. The program will be featuring well-known LDS speakers Gary and Joy Lundberg, whose topic will be “Finding Joy.” Please be in your pews by 9:55 am. We will be meeting in the chapel, so please wear Sunday dress. A luncheon will be served afterwards in the cultural hall and a nursery will be provided. All sisters and Young Women over twelve are invited. They will be asking for a more accurate count prior to that day for the luncheon.
New and usable items in good condition will be also be collected that day for The Road Home/Family Support Center. Fliers will be handed out telling us what their greatest needs are. Bedding, clothing, underclothing and hygiene items are on the lists. It is not necessary to contribute, just welcomed if you have anything to bring.

BOOK CLUB
My Fellow Biblios:
You've heard the phrase for March, "in like a lion, out like a lamb?" I think we could use some of that "lion" to stir things up a bit. Thank heaven we have the Book Club to turn away the doldrums of our not so wintery winter season. As biblioholics, this kind of weather really feeds our addiction (at least one of them!) . . . so, it is one happy note against the blahs of a lackluster winter. We have had some enticing reads so far and we can count on our fellow bookers to keep us going in the right direction. In fact, being part of our Book Club is sort of like falling into a large vat of literary chocolate. White, milk, dark (my favorite) or anything in between, it is a luscious, can't get enough, "died and gone to heaven" sort of feeling. HEE HEE.
We look forward to our getting together, catching up, and renewing friendships each month. I, personally, will thank you for your support in January when I presented "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society." What an interesting and enlightening book that is. If you haven't read it yet, it is well worth picking up. I didn't see anyone get up and leave, and there weren't any flying objects heading my way, so I will assume that my presentation went over well enough. HEE HEE
Now, are you ready for some collywobbles? I don't think you will have to be "persuaded" to read the book pick for March. Our very capable and well-read Pam Magnuson will present it. I know you already have your library card at the ready . . .. March book is Persuasion by Jane Austen. We are all familiar with her works and what a talented author she is. I'm sure this will be no exception.
This novel is actually the last one completed before her death in 1818. It does have its heroine in Anne Elliott and you have to have the dashing lost love, Captain Frederick Wentworth. The power of persuasion is quite a talent, and can be used for good or bad. In this case, it led Anne to take quite a life changing direction that would bring her heartache, and one that would take some time to negotiate its way back to mending it. An enchanting love story, about social climbing, finances of social elites, and how marriage agreements were struck. Placed in England, it will give us a most interesting insight to many characters and to the period of upper class English in the early 1800's.
Get those teacakes baked, grab your favorite hydration, spin those wheels to the nearest library and settle in for a nice comfy read.
