Julia Thacker
Julia Deane Winterton Thacker passed away August 31, 2011 of a stroke, surrounded by her family. 1930 ~ 2011
Julia was born August 14, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Heber R. and Lucy Eldredge Winterton. She was raised in Charleston, Utah, attended Wasatch High School and graduated from LDS Business College. She worked prior to her marriage at Utah Home Fire Insurance Company. Julia married Joseph Ray Thacker March 28, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they raised three children. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings, including a mission in the Washington DC Visitor’s Center with her husband from 1993-1994. She spent many hours of service making booties and quilts. After her stroke, she was diligent in therapy to overcome her paralysis.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years; children: Julie Lynne, Brian (Linette), Larry (Joni); 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Arlan Winterton; sister, Eloise Bond Mangum. Preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Tyler.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011, 12:00 noon at the West Valley 4th Ward, 3150 West Whitehall Drive (3985 S.) Viewings will be held Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Wednesday at the church, 11-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
