A. Clark Johnson 1928 ~ 2011 Amasa Clark Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 7, 1928, in McGill, Nevada, the eldest son of Amasa Threlkeld and Rose Clark Johnson. He married Joan Grace Burgers in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 25, 1949. Together they raised five children. Clark grew up in Tropic, Utah and later moved to St. George, Utah after his father died. He graduated from Dixie High School in 1946. He was a member of the 1945 State Championship six-man football team maintaining a friendship with his teammates for over 66 years. After graduation, Clark joined the Army and spent 14 months in Japan after the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Dad moved to Salt Lake City to work for the Lang Company as a heavy equipment field service representative and salesman. He worked for L.A. Young & Sons construction company of Richfield, Utah as a foreman for various road construction projects throughout the state. Clark was a State Farm Insurance agent for 39 years and loved serving his many clients and friends. He loved the Lord and his Savior, Jesus Christ, and had a strong testimony of the gospel. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held many positions. Clark loved the outdoors and spent time with his family camping and hunting. Dad was an avid golfer, (three holes-in-one) and was a member of the Oakridge Country Club for over 40 years where he enjoyed many friendships. Clark is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan; four children: Randy Clark (Margo) of Idaho Falls, ID; Sandra (Jerry) Mohr of North Potomac, MD; Kristi (Wayne) Jager of Riverton; Teri (John) Fuller of West Valley City; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Scott and his brother, H. Ward. We love you Dad! "Always do the best job you can and a little extra." Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18, 2011, 12 noon, at the West Valley 4th Ward Chapel, 3150 West Whitehall Drive (3985 South). Friends may visit Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and prior to the service from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment at the Valley View Memorial Park.
