RELIEF SOCIETY NEWS
It’s almost here!! Heber Valley Camp, August13-14: “Recharge Your Batteries: Refresh, Renew and Recharge.” If your plans haven’t been made, it’s time to get them settled. What a fun retreat to enjoy in the gorgeous mountains of Heber with your sisters. The obstacle course is optional, but includes a zip line that requires a $5 fee. Sign up ahead for a fun ride. We are inviting girls 11 years and older. We are also asking $5 per out-of-the-ward guest donation to help cover their meals. Just a reminder to those of you who will be inviting guests: Church standards regarding modest sportswear and Word of Wisdom are to be adhered to by anyone who goes up there. It is a church-owned campground.
Tuesday, July 20 will be our Jordan River Temple Day. Plan to come with us on that day now that the temple has re-opened.
How is your reading coming? Involve your family and enjoy your summer.Visiting teaching is an important part of our personal ministries. Please remember to report your visits and any concerns to your supervisors early.
Sister MargieMcLaughlan had recent back surgery. We all wish her a speedy recovery. We miss those of you who aren’t able to meet with us.

Okay, fess up . . . who is the sly fox that stole the first half of 2010??? Out with it, I'm listening!!! OHHH, you're missing your first half too, huh??? Wouldn't you know . . . we are such a caring & giving community, we are all experiencing the same thing, not wanting to leave anyone out! Well.....leave me out and give it back!!! You think you can just come in and slice and dice my timekeeper and not suffer the consequences??!!! Ever heard the
phrase, "what goes around, comes around" . . . well there you have it. You can just expect the same loss of the next half. . .HOWEVER, if we get to visit places, meet people, swell our cerebrum, and EAT . . . while still missing ALL that time keeping, then how bad can THAT be . . . bring it on! For instance, the wonderful trip we just took to visit the Brits. At the hands of our very astute and delightful guide, Merrily Thorne, we took one turn after another with the intriguing and compelling characters of Charles Dickens' "The Pickwick Papers." What a trip that was! She expertly guided us through all kinds of convoluted situations with the ever clever Samuel Pickwick. Thank you, Merrily, for "time" well spent!
Our time may actually slow a bit for July. Can one ever get too old to enjoy a book with pictures? You best get out your maps and look up the town of New Niederbipp, PA. A quaint little place founded by German and Swiss religious refugees looking for a place that reminded them of their homeland. . . the Rhein River Valley of Germany and the mountain valley of Niederbipp, Switzerland. Now how cool is it that we can visit Germany and Switzerland without leaving U.S. soil??
The author of our book is actually a resident of Utah . . . in fact, he was at the Utah Arts Festival in Park City on June 26th) with his pottery! This month's book is his first in a series, and will ntroduce us to Jake Kimball, a university graduate, who applies for a position left open by the death of Isaac Bingham. We will unravel mysteries and explore the secrets of life that Isaac understood and shared. Did I mention . . . we get to look at pictures! That is about as relaxing a time as you can have. A cool summer evening . . . a good book . . .beverage . . . a snack. well, okay, maybe more than a snack. HEE HEE.
This will be a treat! Molded and shaped by the careful hands of Camille Jensen, our introduction to Jake and particularly Isaac will be a month long event. Savor and learn, my little Biblioholics, grab your "pot" of tea cakes (Costco has the absolute BEST Lemon Tea Cakes on the planet!), and wrap your hands around the wonderful story of "Remembering Isaac: The Wise and Joyful Potter of Niederbipp by Ben Behunin". You will NOT want to miss this journey.
"Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words." --Jeremiah 18:2
