Neighbor-Ester Underwood Passes away
(March 10, 1939 - February 27, 2012)
Esther Annette Coy Underwood “Our Ray of Sunshine”
You were our beloved wife, mother, Grandmother, Great Grand, sister, and friend, you were our rock and inspiration. You’re the reason our family has such a close bond. You were such an amazing wife to Dad. You will always be missed but never forgotten. You returned to heaven on February 27th 2012. Esther Annette Underwood, born March 10, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Claude and Marie Coy. She met the love of her life Gilbert Underwood and married him on June 3, 1958. Together they had ten children. Survived by husband Gilbert Underwood, children: Darrell (Jeanna), Mark (Michelle), Doug (Anna), Brenda (Rex) Carlson, Scheryl (Robert) Hall, Connie (Chad), Jimmy, Tammy, Angie (Brian Adamson) Budell, 28 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by her son Steve Underwood, mother and father. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 pm at Broomhead Funeral Home 12600 So. 2200 W. Riverton. Funeral services will be held Saturday March 3 at 10 am at Faith Temple Church 1510 S. Richards St., Salt Lake City, with a viewing 1 hour prior to the services. UPDATE to Stake R.S. Birthday Celebration March 17th
The recipe submission date has been changed to MARCH 7TH.
Reminder: The Stake Relief Society is compiling a cookie recipe book comprised of recipes submitted by Relief Society sisters in our Stake. If you are interested in submitting a recipe, the deadline is now March 7th. You can email your recipes to Charie Winburn of the Stake Relief Society at cwinburn@hotmail.com . Please include in your email: your name and ward.
Also, just an F.Y.I, dress for the Stake Birthday Celebration is just plain casual. Per Charin, "We want everyone to just be comfortable and have a good time!"

Stake R.S. Birthday Party March 17th 9:00am to 1:00
Dear Sisters,
This is a reminder of the Stake Relief Society Cookie Contest and recipe book deadline.
As part of our upcoming Stake Relief Society Activity (March 17), they will be holding a cookie contest. Prizes will be given to the "most creative", "tastiest", "most traditional", "best effort", etc.
The Stake Relief Society is also compiling a cookie recipe book comprised of recipes submitted by Relief Society sisters in our stake. If you are interested in submitting a recipe, the deadline is tomorrow, FEBRUARY 29TH.
You can email your recipes to Charie Winburn of the Stake Relief Society at cwinburn@hotmail.com . Please include in your email: your name and ward.
I know we have a lot of talented cooks in our ward and I hope you all choose to participate and submit a recipe. I think this activity will be a lot of fun!

Gaylen Atkinson's Mothers Funeral & Obituary Notice
We wanted to make you are aware of the passing of Afton Atkinson on Friday, February 17. Afton Atkinson is the mother of Gaylen Atkinson, a long time member of our ward. Gaylen and his wife Janeal are currently serving an inner-city mission.
Our sympathies go to the Atkinson Family.

Afton Gwenda Edgel Atkinson, 96, died 17th of February 2012 at The Golden Living Center of causes incident to age.
Afton was born February 9, 1916 in West Jordan, Utah the daughter of Franklin James Edgel and Florence Adelaide Mildred Warner. She married Vaughn Robert Atkinson December 11, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, and subsequently moved to various regions of the country due to her husband's military service. They were married 53 years, resided in Sandy, and raised six children together. Afton devoted her life to nurturing and caring for her family. She loved music, and made sure her children received musical training. She served in various callings, especially that of a teacher, in the LDS church. She loved the outdoors, growing beautiful flowers and delicious fruits and vegetables, which she shared with family, neighbors and friends.
Survived by daughters, Gwenda (DeWayne) Sperry, Shauna (Larry) Rhodes, Carla (Dan) Jenkins; sons, Gaylen (Janeal) Atkinson, Monte (Gail) Atkinson, Bryce (Lou) Atkinson; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; brother Val Stanton Edgel, sister Clytie Edgel Barber. Preceded in death by her husband Vaughn; sisters Delsa Edgel Owen and Daphne Edgel Child; brothers Silvion Frank Edgel and Max Edgel.
Funeral services 25 February 2012, 12 Noon, in the Hillcrest 1st Ward Chapel, 8485 South 1000 East. Friends may call Saturday at the ward 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
The family is deeply grateful for the loving care given by the staff of Golden Living Center and Access Hospice Care. www.goffmortuary.com
