Our sincere condolences go to Jean Stout and her family at this time

· BORN: July 30, 1921
· DIED: May 7, 2011
· LOCATION: Salt Lake City, UT

1921 ~ 2011
Charles Wright Potter, the last surviving child of 19 born to George Elzy and Mande Hall Potter, died May 7, 2011. He was born in Talmage, Utah on July 30, 1921. Charles honorably served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre during World War II. He married his sweetheart Vera E. Bradshaw Sept. 1, 1942, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Charles retired from the US Postal Service. His goal was to work harder than anyone he knew. He did this as he served others with a yard care service, and by selling sno cones and cotton candy at the Utah State Fair for 36 years. Late in life, Charles discovered his hidden talent for writing cowboy poetry. His wit with words and ability to phrase his thoughts, was a true talent.
Charles is survived by daughters, Jean (Sherrell) Stout, Maxine Potter and son Vernon C. Potter; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings and daughter Charlotte Gilson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday May 12 at 12 noon, at Deseret Mortuary 36 East 700 South, where family and friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank Highland Care Center and Hearts for Hospice for their loving care.

AN ANGEL TO WATCH OVER ME

I just received the following in an email.  Sorry it's late for Mothers Day but the message and song are appropriate anytime.  From YouTube:
"Songwriter Sally DeFord's heartwarming lyrics are coupled with beautiful images of motherhood from celebrated artists to offer an encouraging reminder that the mission of motherhood is divine. This reflective tribute lets mothers know just how much their efforts are appreciated and how much they are truly loved. Book and CD available at: www.seagullbook.com or http://www.deseretbook.com/."

RELIEF SOCIETY NEWS FROM OUR WVC 4TH WARD NEWSLETTER

(Spring Breeze from Shabby Princess Scrapbooking)
We had a fun evening browsing through the huge variety of used books donated to our Relief Society Book Exchange in April. It was fun to take some ‘new’ ones home to read and enjoy the blessing of literacy in our lives. We appreciate Sister Holman and Sister Ashley Mabon spearheading this event. Thanks, too, to Tiffany Bentley and Kaitlyn Rosenlof for being there for our children.
Special belated thanks go to Brother Stott, BrotherMcLauglan, and SethMcLaughlan for spending time with the children in our stake so that the sisters could enjoy the March Stake Relief Society Birthday commemoration.
We would like to invite you to our May Relief Society Activity.  We will be meeting on Tuesday, May 10 at 7pm in the Cultural Hall (gym).  We will be doing a craft. By taking a candlestick holder and a plate we will be making a renovated cake plate.  We will also be decorating cupcakes to take home on your new cake plate.  Whether you come for the craft, the cupcakes, or both we hope to see you there!
Our condolences go out to Crissy and Anthony Hansen on the passing of their infant son, Benjamin, as well as to the Rosenlof family.  We’d also like to extend our sympathies to Sister Joan Johnson and her family on the recent passing of her husband, Clark.
We’d like to thank those who have helped with both funeral luncheons in any way, and for additional thoughtful acts of kindness rendered in their behalf.
It was interesting to learn that our West Valley Stake donated the most food in our district for the recent Scout food drive. Our ward collected about 350 pounds of food. No wonder we are so blessed!
Appreciation and high fives go to the exceptional army of volunteers who sawed, chopped, dragged, lugged and hefted trees, shrubs, and a variety of debris into the dumpsters that magically appear and disappear each spring through the efforts of our priesthood brethren. The lunch in the Bowen Bowry was delicious and also very much appreciated. We have an abundance of good cooks!
We’d like to extend a warm welcome to the many new neighbors who have moved into our ward boundaries and extend an invitation for you to join with us in our meetings and activities.
Thank you, sisters, for your renewed efforts in visiting. Remember that a contact, whether personal, text, phone, or note, help build unity and trust. When we build friendships, we build our community.

MAY BOOK CLUB

Dear Biblios:
It would seem difficult to wrap our brains around the fact that we are entering the 5th month of the year! We have so long been caught in the chilling arms of Ol' Man Winter it seems. We can only be grateful that we have the warm and fuzzy embrace of good friends to break us from his grip as we look ahead to yet another gathering of the Biblioholics Society.
It has been rewarding to have the little snippets of rejuvenation as we met each month through the long winter. We will welcome the promise of spring with renewed energy and excitement . . . along with some sore muscles in places we didn't even know existed, a slower walk at times, and a few bone-tired days thrown in for good measure.  I mean really, who am I trying to kid! Spring is work! Beautiful and colorful, but WORK! Just ask any of those good souls who could hardly peel themselves out of bed after the Neighborhood Spring Cleanup! I personally want to sidestep my direction here and raise great shouts of praise and MANY THANKS to ALL who helped me, and myriad others, to accomplish the mammoth task of beautifying our little corner of the world.
Forgive me for going off track a bit, but a worthy shout-out it was. We are blessed here with wonderful friendships and we find no less in our Book Club. We learned the great value of such friendships as we received the heartwarming story of Corrie Ten Boom in the amazing presentation of "The Hiding Place" by Barbara Stott. Thanks, Barb, for all your effort in bringing her inspiring example to us. We all had fun participating in the discussion!
Our book for May has been touted as a new Classic for America. I know you have all kept your library cards at the ready, since they are definitely a ticket to our many destinations. We will travel back in time on our next read, to the early 1960's in Jackson, Mississippi.
Those who are well versed in history will know this to be the time just before the Civil Rights revolution.  We will meet three women . . .idealistic Skeeter, loving Aibileen, and sarcastic, sassyMinny.
A compelling story that brings to life the smell of melted tar on the Mississippi roads, the toil in the cotton fields, the grits burning on the stove. A story portraying the indomitable will of human beings to survive against all odds. Join us in our circle of friends as Marva Mathis presents The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
April Showers bring May flowers . . . and 129 varieties of weeds and crabgrass. So break away from that back-breaking toil, dust off your shins, and come find a chair of rest at the May Biblioholics Society!
